His artistic executant was Frieda, Lady Harris (1877 1962), who painted the cards in the early years of World War II, from 1938 to 1942. Lady Harris had to paint several versions of some cards before Crowley approved them. Although she knew little about the Tarot or its symbolism, her artistic genius brought Crowleys visions and designs to life. The resulting
